iTunes...

Postby mbrST1100 » 10 Feb 2018, 19:33

Wow, I mean are they mental over there in Cupertino??!

I've like 600 selected tracks in my riding music library, and since their database is too dumb to add/download/associate the correct album cover, I'd to painstakingly add and correct them manually, so everything is neat...

Along comes an iTunes update, and guess what... suddenly the links to about half of my album covers are broken/gone... WHAT IN THE A$$?!!!

Have to do it all over again... and the app is so dumb, it refuses to recognize when there are several tracks from the same album/compilation...
I've to link each single track to the correct image again and again... WTF?!!!

Heather has one of those iPod Touch things and we use iTunes for that.

I haven't noticed any unusual setting changes after updates. Even Windows and the Cyberlink Media player muck it up though with Windows you can drag and drop one album into another if they should be together.

They all place music according to the information on the file. If any of the info in the left is missing or corrupted then that file will be put separate

With music you can change the properties of things like artist and album for every track by selecting all but some has to be done individually

Same for video though you need to go into properties to change it.

Got the full player...
Sometimes the updates even swallow the lyrics I'd entered...

I've done the same in iTunes for some tracks/albums except for the lyrics.

I download a few YouTube videos and sometimes rip the music track into an mp3 so I tend to use windows to either add, delete or correct some info before I play it.

I can claim with good faith, that I own 99,9% of the albums/vinyls/records (being designated to riding tunes the iTunes library is only a small excerpt of the actual collection) ;)
The "snagged" ones come down to like a handful, mostly due being unobtainable though regular channels...
I prefer high-bit files (lossless format), the hacked downloads are often poor resolution... so I'd rather rip from the original CD, or an MD-recording of one of my vinyls (the latter often features the better sound quality)

I have all my CDs on PC some done by windows media player and some done by iTunes. Sometimes the album info isn't available and then I use iTunes and if no luck there then it's keyboard time.

Also copied some of Heather's cassette tapes, separated the tracks, named them and put them on cd. Need another tape player as there's heaps to do.

I'd recommend an MD-recorder for this task, it automatically separates the tracks by the gap/pause between, naming the MD & individual tracks is relatively easy and the Sony program [Sonic Stage] interlinks with my MZ-RH1 portable MD-player/recorder just as your iPod does with iTunes (quite some time before Apple came up with that concept...), transfer the *.oma files from the player to HDD or vice versa, rip audio CDs to *.oma, send them to the MD/player, convert your *.oma to high-bit MP3, etc... (*.oma is the format of ATRAC files)
I love this system, got 2 stationary MD-player/recorder in my system rack in the living-room I record my vinyls on, they feature [divide] with [rehearsal] editing, a big IR-remote with full keyboard for naming the MD and the tracks on it, grab the MD, slide it into the MZ-RH1, connect to PC, a.s.o...

I normally use Audacity then separate and name the tracks manually. Not sure if it has an automatic track separation.

It's good for taking the sound from a video and saving that to .mp3 or .wav

Download the Sonic Stage one and I'll look at it later.

Interesting. I’m looking at dbPoweramp to try and sort/ rerip with the hope of it being. for the final time. Odd collection of tunes/albums/ labelling and bitrates needs to be tidier.
