Conti have produced this tyre for heavyweight touring bikes, there's been mixed reviews in the US but I've had Conti's on a few bikes and been really pleased with them.

What are they like in the wet? I have always run Bridgestone 020's and have been sold on the grip these get in the wet.

The best I've found in the wet (so far) have been the Michelin PR3 and 4GT's... Waaaay better than the Bridgestones!

I haven't tried the Road Attacks on the ST13 but there have been varying reports from Superb to Crap. I guess you pay your money and take your choice, but I'd be using them on a 5000 mile holiday trip to Greece rather than playing around locally so it's serious inconvenience if I get it wrong!

I think there is an element of riding to your tyres' capability. For example, whatever their wet weather grip, ride to that. Alternatively if you prefer to corner in a particular way, then some tyres might suit your riding style better than others. Unfortunately until you try them you won't know! For a long trip I suggest sticking with a tyre you know you are happy with, and experiment later in the UK. I have yet to try the new T30 Bridgestones for myself, but will get some fitted in a couple of months time I think. Pirelli Angel GT get a good write-up in the latest Pantasia UK Owners Club mag by the club chairman Gary Collett.

I've just done a little under 8,000 km on the T30 GT spec and I wouldn't say it's any better than their 23 GT spec tyre it replaced and considering it's supposed to be a touring tyre then one would expect better mileage. The front looks like it's good for another 3 or 4000 kms where the rear I need to replace within another 1000 km at most.

The tyre of choice on STs at the moment in Australia is the Michelin PR4 with some riders reporting in excess of 20,000 km a set which I'll be looking at getting next.

Ran a set of PR3s on one of my ST1100s and was less than pleased with the mileage when they cupped badly at 4626 (using ST1300 sizes). Have another set on another one of my ST1100s and they are doing the same (proper inflation observed and suspension in good shape). Running a set of BT30GTS (ST1300 sizes) on another ST1100 and like them so far but the jury is still out on the mileage. The PR3s are good in the wet but I'm still looking for a good handling radial that I can get past 7,000 miles on the rear. With my experience on the PR3s, I am not inclined to go to the PR4s.

Most of my mileage is done in one hit on our holiday touring Europe (4 to 5,000 miles of perhaps 6,500 a year) which cuts out a lot of the stop/start riding that knocks the tyres out. We change the tyres each year before our tour and sell the tyres on at the pre-tour service with about 3mm for about £60. but at that rate of wear I would expect the tyres to last about 8000-ish, maybe a bit more?

The PR4's we used are the GT to allow for the tail heavy ST13 and so far are wearing well with no problems at all...

I use Avon storm 2 on all three of my bikes and I have used Avons for the last 12 years I find they give good mileage and good road holding in the wet and dry, what more do I need to say, oh yes they are made in the UK, I have tried most makes over the years and I am sticking with Avons.

Just had a brand new Bridgestone GT30 'deflate' while out on a little road trip. I was able to come to an orderly conclusion. No cuts, no nails - it just went flat - then got some serious bumps in the sidewall when I reinflated. Limped very slowly on the 'shaker machine' about 20 miles to a motorway and called the Holler for a trailer. I was about 200 miles from the Holler, so it was a long evening but at least no damage to me or the ST1100. I will be chatting with Bridgestone about this one!

Sounds like a serious case of de-lamination...
Wrong weight index, or incorrect inflation?
