While prepping for t/belt replacement, I'd to note that the cams are off...
This and other evidence makes one wonder what under the table backyard service the ST must have suffered through in the past...

Well, we can exhale again, only the exhaust cams where off by 1 tooth each and the LHS reduction gear/pulley was rotated 180° for unknown reasons...
Corrected everything, replaced belt, idler and spanner, started to check/adjusting valve clearances (all too tight beyond lower limit...) and promptly ran out of shims on the last cam (LHS in)...
Will borrow a friend's kit tomorrow morning to finalize...

Yes; I think it's called the final driven flange.

When I first took the rear wheel off of my first ST1100A, my mechanic told me to replace that flange, along with those five rubber damper holders, and the five held aluminum pieces that the fingers on that flange go into.

It was expensive enough so that I never pitched one out after that, not even if someone told me it was worn.
And now, I check the whole of it all whenever a rear wheel is off, to prevent a repeat occasion.

Yep, some proper service and preventive maintenance saves a lot of money...
Had quite a few miffled moments over missing nuts & bolts, damaged threads and other unnecessary screw ups while refurbing that rig...

Will have to pull the carbs again, idle jets clogged...
Besides this, she's pretty much coming together

Confirmed the clogged jets with my gadget...
Fixed!
Even switched to IPU now.
Now sync them and reassemble in reverse order...
