Don't nag Pieter, also the ST's OEM downpipe kit is made of corrosion resistive alloy.
The vulnerable parts are the welding seems on the collector box; welding is 'glowing' the metal, thus changing the molecular grid...
Besides that no known stainless-alloy will withstand the conditions there for infinite time; the harsh temp cycles, the aggressive mix of dew/condensate/exhaust chemicals on the inside (short distance/commutes are a total killer there as the pipes never dry out), combined with water, salt and minerals from the road spray on the outside... there is yet no material out that will withstand this all... especially if the mount is used year round...

Look at the reeling and general hardware on a yacht, if their owners wouldn't polish and wash every day, also that stuff will soon be a victim of the elements.
Keep tires down, ATGATT, STOC# 637 (Sept.'97), PanEuro# 42 (Oct.'97), candy glory red '92 (sold), re-furbed '94 (wicked), strawberry '00 (daily)
