Stuff that's going wrong

Postby David Monteath » 16 Feb 2013, 15:36

Hi all, long time no wittier at.......:-)

I need to check a couple of small things after doing some post winter checks;

Am I right in thinking that its a really really bad idea to ride with a cracked front brake disc? ;-)

Should I always replace the discs in pairs? I haven't had to do it before.

My left (while on the bike) exhaust as rusted through, in the same place as the right did, just at the collar of the pipe where it goes into the collector box. Is this something that is weldable or is it better to replace the pipes.....frankly I can't afford to do either, but being able together it welded would be the cheapest option......obviously.

Cheers

David

LOL! It does seem most adviseable though... :lol:

Oh good, I'm delighted to hear that, I had he'd that I'd have the chance to buy something for £200. Excellent news!!

Anybody want to swap a pair of discs (for a 96 Pan) for some Lego?

That exchange leaves me with no idea what you guys are intending to say :? , but I see no reason why both front discs would need to be replaced at the same time.

Rotors of different age/conditions would vary in thickness and surface shape, thus different friction coefficients, resulting in unequal braking forces...

I would put that theory to a road test before changing both discs. If you manage to bugger a disc on a car with four wheel disc brakes, you don't replace all the discs.

OEM front discs from David Silver Spares are VERY reasonably priced at £99.
