2018 Honda Gold Wing sheds weight

The 2018 Honda Gold Wing has shed up to 48kg of weight, has an electric windscreen, seven-speed automatic transmission, traction control and a link front fork.

Nope, it appears they reduced the luggage volume to less than the amount for a ST. And reduced the gas tank size (supposedly better mileage). And played some tricks with the engine to reduce weight. And came up with this replacement thingy for the front forks. ;-) And added a power windshield and made it look more like a ST. Saves them (in their mind) from having to develop two product lines (GW and ST) and let's them compete with the new BMW 1600 line.

The tank size is a minus but the DCT is a plus though not sure how long it will stay on Honda Australia's model line up. An auto bike (scooters excepted) is not a big seller out here; after a year the VFR1200 DCT was no longer available due to poor sales.

Overall I quite like the bike though I much prefer a more universal system than the Apple one that's on there.

In fairness, the top one has a nice look about it and could possibly be an ST replacement - but I will have to read up on it first to be certain. For the time being I will stick to my K1600.
