I'd recommend an MD-recorder for this task, it automatically separates the tracks by the gap/pause between, naming the MD & individual tracks is relatively easy and the Sony program [Sonic Stage] interlinks with my MZ-RH1 portable MD-player/recorder just as your iPod does with iTunes (quite some time before Apple came up with that concept...), transfer the *.oma files from the player to HDD or vice versa, rip audio CDs to *.oma, send them to the MD/player, convert your *.oma to high-bit MP3, etc... (*.oma is the format of ATRAC files)
I love this system, got 2 stationary MD-player/recorder in my system rack in the living-room I record my vinyls on, they feature [divide] with [rehearsal] editing, a big IR-remote with full keyboard for naming the MD and the tracks on it, grab the MD, slide it into the MZ-RH1, connect to PC, a.s.o...
