Welcome back Allan Bool

Welcome back Allan Bool

Postby Forest 1100 » 06 Oct 2013, 07:49

I just noticed our "newest" member is Allan Bool, who was a regular on the old My-mc and also contributed one of the best ST1100 drivetrain overhaul threads we had there, which I'm hoping would still be in our archive here. Good to have you back Allan. Talk to Pieter about regaining your full post count, which also will get you more bacon butties! :)

Mmmm Bacon Butties :) Yum. Thanks for the welcome back Forest, it is much appreciated. Somehow, I didn't get the message that the phoenix had arisen until just a very short time ago, so popped over and registered right away. Today, I had some time to spend looking around the site and finding my way around (lousy weather.. no riding for me today).
I left a message in the "New" members thread for Pieter about gathering up my old info so we will see what happens there.

I have missed this place and all the inmates, too. Great to see so many back and posting up a storm already. Great to be back and thanks to all who have put in the time and effort to recreate the place.

Cheers,
Allan

So we have both this Allan in New Zealand, and Alan in South Australia.

If he STill has it, Allan's bike is a silver, 1990 ST1100L (per Honda) but branded a 1991 model by his Government.

Welcome back, Allan.

Thanks guys for the welcome back, it is good to be here. i posted a reply the other day but it hasn't shown up yet so, obviously, I haven't passed the scrutiny of a moderator yet. I have posted more than three items in various threads but they can't have been reviewed yet, either. Never mind.. this one might make it! :)

Allan

Hi Allan,

:welcome38:

Welcome aboard sir. Personally, I've been missing your informative posts so I'm happy you're back. The house still standing in earth-quake-ridden Christchurch? Everything ok with you and the family?

I apologize none of the mods apparently had seen your posts - I admit I hadn't also. Don't know why they escaped us, normally we get to see a post that needs approval in the "unread posts" list but yours didn't show up there until today. Oh well. It's free software so let's not be picky.

I just promoted you to registered user - so your posts don't get moderated any longer - and merged your old "whistler" user id. This made you an instant Bacon Butty Legend.

Good to have you around! Find a chair and pull it up to the fire. Forest, where's the beer??
Image Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. (Don't forget to vote! Not that it matters...)

Hi Pieter,
thanks for your efforts to get me back on board.. much appreciated.

Yes, the house in Christchurch still stands with no obvious damage - we were very fortunate to be sitting on fairly solid ground and the builder had gone the extra mile with the foundations being well above code specs.. just don't try digging fence post holes in that ground though :)

Did someone mention beer???

I have been away from home these last two and half years, working and living in Auckland (employment wasn't flash in the home town for a while) and am still in Auckland for a little while yet as a "temporary" has been extended time after time. At least I had my bike with me up here, so I have had plenty of opportunity to get around an area I haven't looked at for over 40 years - it has been good riding for the most part. As you may see in my avatar, the ol' girl has rolled over 300,000 km and we are on the way to the next milestone.

Thanks to everyone for their work to get this board going.

Cheers,
Allan

Welcome back, Allan Bool in New Zealand.

Allan and all, the following is a trivia question you might need to answer in order to prove you are on the Australian Continent:

Who is Australia's most famous bush ranger?

I don't live there but I believe it was a fellow named Ned Kelly. Aus history is closely linked with our own so, generally, we have a rough idea about each other's country ;)

Right you are. Alan in South Australia posted a link about Ned to help us foreigners read up on Ned:

http://australia.gov.au/about-australia ... /ned-kelly

(I was asked about Ned when I made an attempt to talk to Oz-STOC.)
