Additional URL?

Postby Pieter Huizinga » 19 Jun 2014, 17:00

I got notice today that I can pre-register for the soon to be released top level domain name .UK.
So you could also find the site on my-mc-phoenix.uk.

Your thoughts please? We already have 4 different URL registrations and I have no way of monitoring the usage, but I have the distinct feeling that most of you simply use my-mc-phoenix.com regardless.

Just checked and the browser is .com for me. Might be worth registering and securing the .uk address to avoid any future rival sites or confusion.

.com seems to be a nice universal url as we have posting members from around the world so would actually be against the .uk url as being too restrictive.
I love being right. If only it happened more often...

Well the present 4 URLs would not go away, I could add .uk as a fifth synonym (redirecting to .com as the other synonyms do).

I guess my point is where to draw the line. We could register each top-level domain, I'm sure. But it would imho not serve any other purpose than preventing someone else to register my-mc-phoenix.uk, my-mc-phoenix.it, and so on and so forth. Personally I'm happy with the four domains we have. I don't see any added value justifying the costs.
