Led side lights

Postby Keith Legge » 14 Mar 2013, 12:13

After following Paul around last week he told me how feeble my front side lights were he was right. :(

So ordered some led's these are pure white with no blue tint which a lot have. Got the 5 led ones anything larger would have hit the lens.

The difference. :D

Keith Image cleaning is not one of my strong points. Once the trims back on you won't see it anyway. ;)

You should see the car not washed for two years got some funny green stuff growing on it.

I'm sure Paul is cheering... ;)

The sidelights seem a tad bright, typical harsh, glaring LED output, but OK so far.
The aux lights however are definitely dazzling for oncoming drivers...

I do wonder why the MFGs of those LED inserts always use the super bright instead of daylight types, which would be way easier on one's eyes...

The weirdest mod I'd ever seen was with the number plate light on an older Mercedes (vehicle holder apparently one of those 'new citizens'...), which was like 5 times brighter then all the taillights... at first glimpse I'd though that's another ghost driver on that motorway...

That's called grass isn't it? .........Or is mould?

Sounds like our house.......there's more grass growing in the gutters than there is in the lawn. We don't have a lawn.

They look as bright as Day Running Lights now..........

I bought some LED stop/tail lights for the bike........arrived today but after trying one out I took it out. Not as bright as globe that it was supposed to replace. Can use them as spares for the car so no loss.

Keith well done mate, the improvment is vast.
I was loosing Keith from my mirrors when he was running on side lights every time a car with it's lights on got behind him. I had to really study to see if he was still there. Car drivers wouldn't do that.
After I told Keith he ran with the led spots turned on. martin I assure you they in no way dazzled anyone. they pool light not project it. I suggested to Keith that I would wire those up to the side lights permanently. But after the bulb upgrade no need that's a good safe farkle Keith mate nice job.

Well, its about time the designers get that together... all those drop in 'LED upgrades' are mostly a PITA in this, projecting only a small lit dot on the glass...
Also the LED headlight kit I'd installed into the GF's 125cc scoot (since the alternator is too inferior to handle the 70W of regular bulbs), are a bit of disappointment, very bluish light, and the high/low changeover is only more/less bright instead of having the upper LED array on for LOW and both for HIGH...

And for ID-ing a bike within a queue of cars, I'd set up the running lights with 21/5W dual filament bulbs in my ST's front turn signals.
