Anybody used a Coocase?

Postby Keith Legge » 23 May 2013, 18:30

Looking for a new top box and Givi is too expensive but found Coocase on ebay half the price of the Givi.

Anybody used one of these top box's are they as sturdy and water tight as the Givi?

Coocase 50 ltr remote locking/brake light/base plate £145 the Givi is £200 just for the case.

No Keith, I have never used a Coocase . . . . just so you don't feel totally ignored. :)

Looks a nice case Keith the only thing Id be wary of is if the latching/locking system is on a par with dearer cases.

EDIT It looks quite decent in the video

Something to be aware on these cases is the bottom wire which when damaged disables the wireless controller

Well the idea with having contact pins on the carrier plate and a matching socket in the case appears quite tempting (compared to the rather disappointing solution of 'flying leads' on the ST1300 top case with spoiler brake light installed... ).
Included tail/brake light connection as well as the remote un/lock with alarm system, seems fancy...

That the cables on the inside are not properly ducted and prone to damage, spoils it again...
So does the Hulk of control/locking box which seems a waste of payload...
The control stuff will add another stand-by consumer, draining on your battery...
I can't see a proper foam sealing on the rims of lid and base... chances of water breach soaking our payload?
Also no fitting liner bag to be found, which makes loading a bit difficult (everything that's above the rim of the lower half will spill out when you open the lid... gloves, jacket liners, cigarettes, toilet paper, etc... spill all over the parking place...)

I think if you rework that stupid cable routing, keep proper lubrication/protection of those contacts in mind and find a way to improve the seals you might get quite happy with that thing.

Design/visuals however are matters of personal taste... I for one would never nail such an ulcer to the elegant ST1100 though... ;)

I was thinking how good it looked compared to my old RJays one on my 1100 which I got 10 years ago for my CX500.
