Google map

Postby Pieter Huizinga » 28 Feb 2013, 21:35

We've added the bbcode for inserting a Google map in your post.
Just insert the link to your map as given by Google.

For example:
Code: Select all
[googlemap]https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=210259477941773069662.0004d6cebf098cdb4e2cd&msa=0[/googlemap]

Will show:

which happens to be where I live.

Edit: Alan Williams pointed out that you must use the full link, not the shorted one. Tnx Alan.

Library

Postby Pieter Huizinga » 20 Mar 2013, 10:39

We have created a top section in the "Biking in General" forum, where we intend to bundle topics with useful m/c information.

New in there is a Library topic where we would like to collect manuals etc. contributed by members.

Connecting to old my-mc members

Postby Pieter Huizinga » 01 Apr 2013, 15:51

If you should wish to connect with one of the old my-mc folks whose usernames were imported, you are advised to send an email, since unless they have reregistered they won't have a password to login and read a PM.

I probably should also point out to you that not all email addresses of old my-mc users are necessarily correct. Quite a few user-id's over the years had gone missing from the my-mc member records. This posed a problem for importing their posts, because phpBB won't accept a post from an unknown user-id. I've tried to solve this in a pragmatic manner. That means that for missing users, I added their user-id with a fake (random) email address - simply because phpBB demands a unique email address for each user.

So, if you email one of them through this board and you see his email address of the form "noreply99999@my-mc-phoenix.com" (where 99999 is a randomly generated number), the board doesn't know his real email address and your email will go lost in cyberspace.

My-mc archives

Postby Pieter Huizinga » 02 Apr 2013, 17:02

It gives me great pleasure to announce that as of today, the complete archives of the my-mc.com board are available for your reference in our Biking section.

There are 12,085 topics with in total 167,327 posts, roughly from 2001 to 2011.
I would like to thank Steinar Fremme for making this content available to us!

Please see this page for more information, and of course, the archived messages.
Please note that you must be a registered member to access these my-mc.com archives.
Well worth registering for, IMHO. And, it's free. ;)

Library revamped

Postby Pieter Huizinga » 08 Apr 2013, 13:18

Our Library has been reorganised. Hopefully this will make it easier for you to find interesting stuff.
We recently added a huge load of mainly ST1100-related information to our Library.

Please note that you need to be a registered member to access the Library.
Well worth registering for, IMHO. And, it's free. ;)

Full name field in profile

Postby Pieter Huizinga » 13 Jun 2013, 09:11

Seeing that numerous members still prefer to use a handle rather than their real name, I decided to add a "full name" entry to the user profile. This allows you to keep your cherished handle and still let us know who you are. For now, it's not yet mandatory but I'm sure everyone appreciates why it is there.

Now if you'd all be kind enough to go into your user profile and fill out that field? Pretty please? ;)

Happy birthday (belated)

Postby Pieter Huizinga » 21 Jan 2014, 11:13

Time flies. We're up for more than a year. Some statistics FYI:

52de55bf.jpg
52de55bf.jpg (43.68 KiB) Viewed 16769 times

Note that the "posts per day" and "topics per day" are inaccurate, because we imported the old my-mc database.

"Upcoming events" subforum discontinued

Postby Pieter Huizinga » 29 Jan 2014, 12:29

This subforum hadn't been used by anyone for a long time, so we decided to remove it.
No information about upcoming rides was lost since none had been posted.

Please also see viewtopic.php?f=27&t=60&p=177567#p177567.
