Focusing Fast on the Future of this Forum

Postby David W » 03 Jan 2019, 02:22

Assuming that you want to help preserve all or part of this web site, we should perhaps now focus on one or both of the following Goals:

Goal 1: Preserve a read-only copy of this web site, as it reads today.

Goal 2: Relocate this entire site to a new host, and get it running again as a discussion forum.

Again assuming you are willing to help achieve one of those Goals, which Goal?

How can you maybe help achieve that Goal?

* For example, do you know how to copy long web pages so that entire threads can be copied and saved with reasonable efficiency?

* For example, do you know how to send money (from the USA) to a business man in Holland? (Assume that someone else in the USA supplies most of that money.)

* As another example, does anyone know how to have a large data file sent to them electronically from a computer in Holland? And can you store that large file for a while?

* As another example (for Goal 2) does anyone know of a computer host in Europe that is affordable and reasonably reliable? If not, do you know of one in North America? Or elsewhere?

'Tis not its looks, but how it cooks.
And I've found that most liter size Pans, when warmed up, cook well.

I am not sure of the answers

I do know that the data can be got. It will not disappear. Luc is finding out what size all the data adds up too

Keith Might know some answers as he was involved in the transfer originally along with Pieter but I have not seen him for awhile
