If every time I have watched it was recorded, for who doesn't like to "appreciate" their own handiwork, I think the count on Vimeo would be much higher!

My first effort to attach maps here for their m/c movie

Postby David W » 19 Oct 2013, 19:50

The first leg of their journey might be approximated by this first map (below) ...
EDIT: The map that was below is now omitted because it appears in my post below called "A second attempt at Mapping the First Leg of their riding".
(Thanks, Pieter and Keith, for the "googlemap" button here and for Keith's explanation of it in another thread.)

A later portion of their ride is probably shown in this second map (below) ...
EDIT: The map that was below has been deleted because it is replaced by the map in my post below called "A second attempt at Mapping the Return Leg of their riding".

Maybe Forest can help with some highway numbers for those "poor" roads between Vancouver, Washington and Yakima that can connect the two maps above. The map below.... EDIT: The third map which was previously "below" in this post has been removed because it has been replaced by (hopefully) a better "third" one; please see my post below which is dated 20 Oct 2013.

And I've found that most liter size Pans, when warmed up, cook well.

Dave, Since it appears you managed to successfully suss out the first two maps, I'll help you to correct the third one, the trip from Vancouver to Yakima.

From Vancouver, we travelled east on 14 to 30. Headed north on 30, then onto 51 to 25 which passes the eastern slope of Mt. St. Helens. Connected to Hwy 12 at Randle, then went west to Morton, headed north on 7, connecting with 706. This headed us towards and through Mt. Rainier National Park, after which we connected with 12 again going east and into Yakima.

Might as well give folks the right info, if you are going to all that trouble.

My second attempt at the third, or middle, map

Postby David W » 21 Oct 2013, 02:57

Here is a poor attempt for a better "third" map (showing Vancouver, WA to Yakima) which is missing from my above post dated 19 Oct 2013. Close inspection of it indicates that I included in it the road NF-30 north out of Carson, WA, but I took a wrong turn and left out the NF-51 portion. I will try again later. (These do indeed appear to be back roads!)

'Tis not its looks, but how it cooks.
And I've found that most liter size Pans, when warmed up, cook well.

A second attempt at Mapping the First Leg of their riding

Postby David W » 31 Oct 2013, 01:56

Here is a map from:

A. Blaine, WA to
B. Port Townsend, WA to
C. Long Beach, WA to
D. Vancouver, WA to
E. Carson, WA.

Carson looks to be about as far south and east as they rode. (They rode north on NF-30 out of Carson.)

A second attempt at Mapping the Return Leg of their riding

Postby David W » 31 Oct 2013, 02:40

Here is a map from:

A. RIMROCK LAKE RESORT on U.S. 12, out of Naches, WA to
B. Yakima, WA to
C. Leavenworth, WA to
D. Chelan, WA to
E. Winthrop, WA to
F. Ross Lake National Recreation Area to
G. Sedro-Woolley, WA.

I recommend clicking on the "Sat" box in the upper right of this map, in order to emphasize the mountains.

The map from Randle, WA to RIMROCK LAKE RESORT is eluding me due to the back roads between Mount Rainier and that resort on US-12, mentioned as being the starting point A of the map here.

Keith and all,

These maps that I am posting here are for the routes that Forest and his wife rode when they made the video that Forest posted in the first post of this thread.

Most of my riding was done on the bike model shown in my avatar. [Please see my Introduce-yourself thread for a larger image of it, found on the page viewtopic.php?f=3&t=13323&start=10 here, down in a post I made on 02 Nov, 2013.]

Looks like "was done" are the operative words here. Not riding any more Dave?
