BritSToc 18

Postby PeterPan » 27 Jun 2017, 10:28

Shall we shall we not. UK Ireland Belgium somewhere else?

It has been suggested that Britstoc 2018 should take place in a foreign land

If I had a choice I would go for Ireland near the Beare loop which proved popular at the PoSToc

I would also add a day perhaps by going on a bank holiday or just adding a Monday or Friday.

Belgium has been mentioned which is a good shout. We went to Ypres many years ago and must be due a visit again. Perhaps Brugge this time. Perhaps a bit further to the Ardenne which is a nice part of Belgium.

Opinions and ideas will be gratefully received, don't forget I still might ignore them.

And then there's a PoSToc/PreSToc? Germany. Switzerland? Or and it's a bit radical. There is a FIM MotoCamp in Croatia starting on the Wednesday 6th June. https://fim-motocamp2018.com As the name suggests it's a camping event.

Regards

Peter

We're very open minded. If anything, I am not really too keen on another visit to Ypres. Been there twice, done that. There's so much more beautiful in Belgium. Pajottenland, Ardennen, Nonkel Luc probably knows more.

And as y'all know, it never rains in Belgium.

Hi everyone - it's good to be posting again on this most finest of forums.

@ Pieter: thanks for your gentle reminder-nudge four years ago (on 1/7/2013). Better late than never, eh mate?! :)

Peter, you could be onto something good by suggesting a PoSToc/PreSToc at FIM MotoCamp in Šibenik, Croatia. Incredible coastline, and Krka National Park is very close to the venue - just 16.5 km (10 miles) - up the road. Krka NP is really quite sensational, and definitely worth a visit.

thanks again

Shhh! Keith, dont tell everyone, it'll get too crowded on the Dalmation coast, don't want to spoil the great twisty road with crowds. 8-)

It never rains in Belgium[BLACK SUN WITH RAYS]️[BLACK SUN WITH RAYS]️[BLACK SUN WITH RAYS]️.

I'd prefer Ardennes region over another visit to Ypres. Passed through on the way to Bastogne three years ago and thought then it was one to return to.

With holiday already committed next year I'm unlikely to have enough time to get to Croatia and back. So a pre/post in Belgium/Germany would be possible. Switzerland and the alps in 2019?

If BritSToc has to keep to its name then perhaps holding in Kent, the garden of England, as a good hopping off point to 'Europe' might be an option.

BritSToc in the SE and then hop over the channel for a Pre or PoStoc sounds ideal fro me. Belgium, Ardennes/Germany maybe Black Forest ? I can fit in some visiting to see some of my ancestors who lost their lives in WW1 as I pass through Belgium/Northern France. I still need to get to Ypres so that could be on on route destination for me also, heard too much about it to keep missing out.
