Opinions for BritSToc 15

Postby PeterPan » 13 Nov 2014, 13:03

Well today I made a map of where BritSToc's have been held..1500 miles to go and visit all of them again..Weekend?

Or it shows a few holes of which areas we have not been to

http://goo.gl/maps/QwH1v

I found these three locations yesterday

I have never been there are or know any further info other than what’s on Various websites but they look ok

http://bankhousefarmcamping.co.uk With Showers but £8 a night Entrance opposite the Pub

http://www.hulme-end-campsite.co.uk/ Without Showers Entrance behind/side of the pub £4.50 a night

http://www.themanifoldinn.co.uk/default.html The Pub. Real Ale Real Food although Possibly not the cheapest

But as per the map above we have been in that area already. Twice I think for Point5's

There was an mention during this years trip to Hexham that we should try somewhere that would allow us to have a ride-out on the Saturday to Beggamans Road. I am still looking for an appropriate site for that.

We could go back to Europe? Ypres? Normandy? or somewhere else?

I am also looking to see if the weekend can be extended by a day as few of us had the extra day on the Friday this year by meeting up on the Thursday evening. It seemed to make the weekend less rushed and more enjoyable.

Im happy enough with the 3 you mention as they are within reasonable travelling of Scotland.

This any good? Near to Hawes and has camping and rooms for the faint hearted.

I looked at the Green Dragon and I am not convinced that it would suit us.
Don't ask me why cause I don't know.
Perhaps the rooms are a little expensive. Perhaps the campsite is a little cramped. There is talk of midges as well because of the waterfall.
After our choice of this year which was ok (ish) I have decided that as per previous years a pre visit is a must

Peter. All 3 look good and I would be willing to do a recce if there is nobody closer. However the whole month of June is out of bounds for me as I have booked a trip to the other side of the pond.

I also have a date problem but I am sure it can be overcome. A visit would be good but it's a bit far for Cammy? Perhaps leave it for while as I sometimes have time on my travels to visit.
I am in Harrogate week after a next, not sure I will have the time to visit but I shall see.

Assumes we haven't gone to war by then of course. But St Petersburg is a place I would love to visit at some point.
I love being right. If only it happened more often...

Just catching up on the thread, Peak District looks good. Also seems to be a gap around Snowdonia ?

Certainly I would be up for a day or two before hand if it meant taking in some new roads & scenery. Dates fairly flexible at the moment.
