Greece again

Postby steve974 » 01 Mar 2014, 20:25

A couple of years ago we decided to go to Italy for two weeks with the sole intention of having a coffee and pizza in Valentino Rossi's cafe in Tavulia...

Then my wife suggested that she really liked Greece "and it's only a ferry journey away", so I mentioned a friend in Montenegro and she responded with a friend in Austria - before we knew it we did a 5 week trip around Europe involving 8 (or maybe 9) countries. A great tour, a trip of a life time we said..

This year she suggested France for 2 weeks, I offered Italy as well.. can you see where this is going? We're off to Greece again, only this time via France, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Italy and into Greece and a different route back.

This is planned over 3 weeks in June/July, but before that I've got a week in France with a mate for the last week in May.. he's not been out of the UK on a bike so it'll be a new experience for him.

PS - The pizza was great!

Hi Peter, it must be time for a re-visit then!
I can thoroughly recommend an apartment in Poros Bay on Lefkas, the owner charges us less every time we go back and it was inexpensive to start with.
Hope the floods have gone for you!

Tempted but not this year too much other stuff on. Thinking of going to Tallin in August, and Scotland needs a visit this year as I never went last year.

Peter, if you go to Tallin. You must visit Joey Dunlops memorial in Pirita forest,(race circuit), at N59' 27.611 E24' 50.196 waypoint.

Eurotunnel, hotels and ferry booked. Can't wait..... 3 weeks of wandering around on the bike!

Trip down about 1500 miles, then back up through Italy (non-motorway) for about 5 days to catch the Autoslaap up to Holland and home.

Debs and I were chatting last night and plans for next years bike trip came up, she hates flying so the logical progression was the bike to get to our provisional destination of Spain and Portugal.

She also mentioned that her thoughts were to sell her horse in a couple of years and then move abroad to warmer climes, either Spain or Greece :D
The only downside would be that the Pan would also be sold :( 'cos it's way too hot out there!
