Suspension Refreshed

Postby Derek-Dex-French » 18 Mar 2016, 10:45

Had my suspension re-sprung, re-valved and serviced/set-up at MCT Suspension in Stowmarket, UK, yesterday. Bike has done 37,000 miles from new and was starting to feel unsettled through bumpy bends with the result I was having to wait for the bike to settle before powering on.
Changes have made the bike ride a little taller at the front providing plenty of feedback and a very composed ride now over bumps. Some new tyres in the next month or so will make sure I'm ready for the 2016 summer trips. Pleased.

Brilliant people... we had our done before our Greece trip last year, so much better!

Isn't it impressive just how quickly they can get the shock out...12 minutes???

Thoroughly recommended.

I noticed little difference when I had the fork seals done last year. They also did the bushings as well. The rear Progressive (company not type) linear sprung shock still seems harsh compared to the OEM so might have to look at going back to an OEM shock in the near future

Do they do a ride in/out service?

Give them a ring Brian... they're really helpful, but they can have up to a 3month waiting list.

They'll then be able discuss what you want done, anything from a rebuild to an Ohlins replacement, and then advise you on cost, when it can be done and how long it will take.

Their sofa is comfy and their coffee's good!

Brilliant, i will give them a phone at some point, even for next year but that depends on me replacing my current bike or not, it would be great if i could do it this way, easier than stripping it all down and sending it and it would mean that i could factor in a bike trip as well [THUMBS UP SIGN]

I was lucky as they had a cancellation just before I phoned them so my lead time was just 10 days. However they get very busy during the racing season.

Had mine done last year, very impressed with the set up. I was approaching 40,000 miles on the original rear shock so they did front & year. Cornering has improved massively with none of the past wallowing in the bends.
Note the hi-tech plank of wood under the centre stand just the right height to get the front wheel in & out with just a bottle jack under the sump.
